Welcome to Nordic Style

Founded in 1991 in the heart of London’s Chelsea Design Quarter, Nordic Style was established by Moussie Sayers with a simple but distinctive vision: to bring the light, elegance and timeless beauty of Scandinavian interiors into British homes.

Opening her first showroom on Lots Road, Chelsea, Moussie became one of the pioneers of Scandinavian-inspired interiors in the UK. At a time when dark wood and pine furniture dominated British homes, Nordic Style introduced a softer aesthetic, combining clean Nordic functionality with the rustic elegance of Swedish Gustavian and country-style furniture.

The business quickly became renowned for sourcing handcrafted furniture and beds from Sweden before meticulously hand-finishing each piece in the UK using soft chalky whites, muted greys and warm creams. Inspired by eighteenth-century Swedish design, the collections featured carved detailing, fluted legs and elegant, understated proportions. Alongside its imported collections, Nordic Style became well known for selling original Mora clocks, Gustavian desks and cabinet furniture, while also designing and manufacturing its own high-quality reproduction ranges inspired by original Swedish antiques.

Every room was thoughtfully curated with complementary ceramics, lighting, textiles and accessories, creating complete interior schemes rather than simply selling individual pieces. The Gustavian bedroom collections proved especially successful and became one of the defining features of the Nordic Style brand.

In 2009, Nordic Style entered a new chapter when Moussie retired and the Nordic Style brand, designs and intellectual property were acquired by a new owner who had previously manufactured many of the reproduction furniture collections for the business. Under the new ownership, the Chelsea showroom was refurbished and the company expanded throughout South West London and Surrey, opening showrooms in Wimbledon Village, Centre Court Wimbledon, Barnes, Fulham, Esher, Guildford and Richmond upon Thames.

As the cost of operating High Street retail stores dramatically increased maintaining a network of seven-day-a-week showrooms became increasingly uneconomical. The business therefore took the strategic decision to close all its own retail stores and concentrate on supplying Nordic Style branded products through selected retail partners and trade customers.

This website showcases the Nordic Style products that are currently in stock and available for immediate purchase, together with their recommended retail prices. It does not represent every product the owner and brand has designed or manufactured over the past three decades.  Instead, it reflects the furniture and accessories that are physically in stock and ready for immediate dispatch.

By removing the considerable costs associated with operating High Street showrooms.  Nordic Style is able to pass those savings directly on to customers, offering exceptional value without compromising on quality or craftsmanship.

For more than three decades, Nordic Style has remained committed to creating beautifully curated interiors that combine timeless Scandinavian design with exceptional craftsmanship and enduring quality. While the brand particularly renowned for its Gustavian bedroom furniture and the carefully selected wall art, lighting, soft furnishings and accessories that complete the look – the collection also includes many other distinctive pieces for every room in the home, all chosen to reflect the brand’s long-standing reputation for elegant, timeless interiors.
